track a poll

Short, concise description of the idea
Sign up to track a poll and get notifications when people answer.

Full description of the idea
Similar to being able to track new comments on an entry. Currently, the poster of an entry gets notification/email for every comment, and other people who are allowed to see the entry and its comments can choose to track it and get those same notifications/emails.

Currently, the creator of a poll gets a notification/email whenever someone answers the poll, but other people cannot sign up to track the poll and get the same emails. I suggest that they be allowed to do so.

You would only get notification if the poll settings allow you to see answers to the poll. Being able to see the poll and answer it is not enough.

The UI would be on the "view poll results" page. It would have a track icon, just as posts do, and when you click on it, you'd get a notifications form where you could sign up for emails or TxtLJ etc.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Find out when people vote in polls you're particularly interested in.
  • More complete information about a post you're tracking that has a poll in it. Voting activity is relevant; just getting the comments is incomplete.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Other than the work LJ would need to do to expand the tracking system to include polls, I can't think of any.
