Option to break all redirects after renaming an account

Option to break all redirects after renaming an account

Short, concise description of the idea
The option to disallow old comments/community entries posted prior to a rename from redirecting to the new name

Full description of the idea
As of right now, there are two options when renaming an account; changing all previous references to your old name to the new one, OR changing it and having direct links to your old account 'dead' with a strikethrough.
This feature would enable those who want to cut -all- ties to prevent their old comments/community posts from redirecting to their new username. Hopefully there could also be a way to keep these old comments/entries still editable to the user themselves?

An ordered list of benefits
  • Privacy
  • Would offer the benefits of 'starting fresh' with a new account without actually creating a new one, allowing a user to keep their old entries/friends/communities intact.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Keeping the entries 'editable/deletable' by the user could prove to be a hassle
  • Would cause some confusion for other users browsing old comments/community entries
