Additional Information in the "To:" Field of E-mail Notifications
Short, concise description of the idea
A little more information in the "to" field of notification e-mails would make a world of difference for incoming e-mail filters.
Full description of the idea
As a user with multiple LiveJournal accounts, all of which send notification e-mails to my single e-mail address, I would find it immeasurably useful to have a bit more information in the "to" field of these messages.
The current behavior is to simply put my e-mail address in the field. If it could also have "journal_name" in there, I could filter these messages into their proper places automatically.
So, if I get a message on my role-playing diary, they would be sent to "pattern" <firstname.lastname@example.org>. And when I receive a message from my everyday journal, they would be sent to "zorkfox" <email@example.com>. And so on....
All this change will require is someone to adjust the e-mail notification template. The information is already available to whichever script generates the message, it just needs to be added to the "to" field.
- Easier filtering for people with multiple LJ accounts but only one e-mail address.
- Easier to determine which journals are seeing comment and friending traffic.
- I can't think of any, but I'm sure someone will dream up an objection or think of something I didn't. :)
