Poppies for Remembrance Day
Short, concise description of the idea
Virtual Gift of a red poppy for the UK users who wear poppies to symbolise their remembrance of those who died in WW1 and WW2 and other wars since.
Full description of the idea
In the UK, we celebrate Remembrance Sunday on the nearest Sunday to the 11th November and Armitice Day on the 11th November. We wear paper red poppies to show our support as these were the only thing that grew on the battlefields in WW1. We have a two minute silence at 11am on the 11th November to remember the dead who have died fighting for Queen and country. I think it would be nice to have the ability to send someone a virtual red poppy around that time and the proceeds could go to the British Legion who support ex-service men and women from all wars. The proceeds from the sale of the red poppies in the UK go to them and everyone wears them during the month of November. I wanted one to display in my user info for yesterday but saw that you didn't have any and thought about asking you to make them. Please consider this idea.
