Automatic handling of Cyrillic language Support requests

Automatic handling of Cyrillic language Support requests

Short, concise description of the idea
Place Support requests written in Russian to the Russian Support category automatically.

Full description of the idea
Many requests posted to the LiveJournal Support board are posted in Russian and need to be moved to the correct category so that an appropriate Support volunteer and handle it. A lot of the time, they will be posted by the user to Russian, but still a large number of Cyrillic requests end up in the English categories, waiting to be moved to the Russian category by a Support volunteer.

My idea would automatically have requests screened (somehow?) for Cyrillic characters. If the request is composed in a Cyrillic language, the category it is posted in would be overridden and placed in Russian Support to be answered there.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Russian requests potentially can be answered earlier, as there would be no delay in moving the request to the Russian Support category.
  • Volunteers could save time on the Board by not having to move requests to Russian Support.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Requests written in half Cyrillic, half English (or quoting Cyrillic text) would be moved to Russian when they can be handled in English categories satisfactorily.
  • Not all Cyrillic text is the Russian language. Although, most Support volunteers generally might not be able to identify the difference between Cyrillic languages when moving requests to Russian anyway.
