Alert people if they're sending a message that can't be replied to

Alert people if they're sending a message that can't be replied to

Short, concise description of the idea
If someone is sending a private message to a person that wouldn't be able to reply, due to the person's messaging preferences, alert them to that fact.

Full description of the idea
I've seen a number of situations where person A sends person B a message, but when person B replies to person A they are unable to. This happens if a) person A has chosen to block all private messages, or b) if person A has chosen to only allow messages from friends, and B is not on their friends list. B gets frustrated because they can't reply, and A may well not understand the lack of response. It would be helpful if, when A sends the message, LiveJournal checks whether B would be allowed to reply, and if not, provides A with a "This person won't reply, do you want to change your message settings [link]?" type thing.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Less confusion, frustration, irritation, etc.
  • More clarity in communication (at least the aspects that are under LiveJournal's control...)
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • People who /want/ to send a message that can't be replied to might be annoyed at the notification?
  • It wouldn't be likely to be an opt-in change, thus sparking outcry?
