Editing on comments regardless

Editing on comments regardless

Short, concise description of the idea
Editing comments is disabled if that comment is replied to. This is self-defeating.

Full description of the idea
Comments should be editable even if their are replies to said comment.

It's counterproductive to not allow editing at any stage. If the reply to the comment is to point out a problem with the comment, what brings your attention to the need to edit takes away the ability to edit. It's illogical.

Not being able to edit comments with replies completely defeats the purpose of being able to edit in the first place.

If concern is "abuse" of the editing ability, why not address the areas of abuse as they arise instead of trying to predict and pre-emptively punishing? Why hurt the many for the actions of a few? Makes no sense.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Allows correction at any stage.
  • Removes counter-productive nature of comment editing.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
