Unnecessary JavaScript in Light Format

Unnecessary JavaScript in Light Format

Short, concise description of the idea
Removal of JavaScript from journal entries accessed via LiveJournal Mobile (i.e. with ?format=light at the end of the URL)

Full description of the idea
In a nutshell, there is a line in the html for journal posts accessed through LiveJournal Mobile (i.e. those posts with ?format=light at the end of the URL) that pulls in an enormous (115KB) file of JavaScript which, by its very nature, defeats the object of LiveJournal Mobile!

An example is which in non-light mode is 174KB. In light mode it is 138KB - not light at all!!

There is a SCRIPT tag at the top of the HTML that pulls in a script from which is 115KB in size... unnecessary and unusable for the majority of mobile devices.

An ordered list of benefits
  • A download saving of 115KB *per page* for each journal entry accessed via LiveJournal Mobile.

An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • I can't think of any problems specifically... this line should never have been included in the light format, in my opinion.

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
  • Removal of the SCRIPT tag that references at the top of the HTML for light mode pages.
