Fix for PNG Alpha Transparency in IE

Fix for PNG Alpha Transparency in IE

Short, concise description of the idea
Would it be feasible for LJ to add this to the header? It's a javascript snippet that enables Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6 to display alpha transparency(fuzzy transparency, not like GIF) instead of substituting a random background color.

Full description of the idea
I'm not sure, but I don't believe that LJers have the ability to edit the header of their pages, which is where javascript is traditionally placed. I may be mistaken on that, as I haven't ever found that I needed to edit my journal styles in a hardcore kind of way xD

An ordered list of benefits
  • Promotes the use of Alpha layer transparency in PNG
  • Keeps web artists from needing to provide a disclaimer like "If you use IE, then this image won't look as intended"

An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Larger page load
  • Wouldn't work for users that have javascript disabled
  • Doesn't work for people using a browers before IE5.5
  • Provides another excuse for IE users to not use Opera or Firefox etc (;))

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
  • It's pretty much this:
