Get a different domain for lj admin
Short, concise description of the idea
Due to the amount of spam coming to me from @livejournal.com, official admin should have a different domain name.
Full description of the idea
I receive at least 50 spam messages a day to me utilizing the livejournal.com domain. I'd like to just filter the domain to a spam trap and never see it, but since the official LJ admin also uses this domain, I can't risk missing true business messages.
If the admin for LJ had its own domain (not published, but provided to users when they sign up so they can include it in their white lists), it would allow users to set up spam filters to deal with some of the problem. It's very easy for automated systems to take LJ user names and just add the domain and use them to email to or from.
Many internet businesses have separate domains for the administrative use to protect themselves and their users.
- Extra security to both users and LJ admin
- Allow users to filter spam out.
- Ensure that LJ admin can contact their users when necessary.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
- Won't work for all the spam, but should help cut it down.
An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
- Get a different domain and start using it.
