Improvements to the livejournal.com/mobile page

Improvements to the livejournal.com/mobile page

Short, concise description of the idea
Next/Previous links on livejournal.com/mobile/friends.bml and rendering of the leaving-a-comment form in the mobile style would make this feature orders of magnitude more useful for heavy mobile users.

Full description of the idea
The livejournal.com/mobile page is fantastic; I use it to post to my livejournal from my PSP with great success. However, for reading, there are two major issues. One is that there's no "previous" link to allow me to get at entries prior to the most recent fifty entries, which is a pretty small window for people with active friends pages. The other is that while I can post using a streamlined interface and I can read posts using a streamlined interface, if I try to leave a comment it pulls up the person's whole journal interface and style with all the concordant code and issues. (In particular, the "Post Comment" button doesn't work properly on the PSP -- I can get it to post by fudging things, but it's pretty iffy, and if the person's style is complicated enough the browser runs out of memory.) Having a streamlined leave-a-comment page in addition to the previous/next buttons would make this a completely full-featured LJ solution for my mobile devices, as far as I'm concerned.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Increase accessibility and functionality for people with mobile devices.

An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Other than the work involved, I can't really think of any.

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
  • A "Previous" and "Next" link at the bottom of the friends page, similar to that in the regular friends page.
  • A simplified leave-a-comment page, similar to the update-your-journal page already created.
