Old-style comments in Sponsored+

Title
Old-style comments in Sponsored+

Short, concise description of the idea
Allow Sponsored+ users to use old-style comment pages, even if the journal layout wizard doesn't allow it

Full description of the idea
Currently, Sponsored+ users using the S2 style system have customized comment pages by default (i.e. the comment pages are rendered in the journal's layout instead of your default site scheme, see this versus this). This is OK under many journal layouts since you can simply turn off the customized comment pages in the layout customization wizard, but with some layouts (e.g. A Sturdy Gesture) this option is not available in the wizard. This is a problem that needs to be fixed so people who don't want the new comment pages aren't stuck with them. For the record, free accounts don't have this problem since they can't use customized comment pages, while paid accounts don't have this problem because they can use advanced customizations that circumvent the wizard.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Certain Sponsored+ users would not be stuck with non-customizable customized comment pages

An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Some Sponsored+ users may prefer the new comment pages and not want them to be reverted to the old style
  • Paid users may be resentful if advanced customization options are given to Sponsored+ users

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

There are three possible solutions:
  • Edit the style layouts in question so that old-style comment pages can be turned on and off via the customization wizard
  • Revert all Sponsored+ users to old-style comment pages
  • Add advanced customization options to the Sponsored+ list of features
