Allow account-specific image placeholder settings

Allow account-specific image placeholder settings

Short, concise description of the idea
It would be cool if we could choose image placeholder settings for specific accounts on our friends list, rather than choosing one setting that applies to all of the accounts we watch.

Full description of the idea
Since I have dial-up and watch several image-related comms and feeds, I've enabled image placeholders so my connection doesn't choke and die. But this makes reading my friends page a hassle, since I have to click separately on every image that I want to see.

I'd love to be able to set separate image placeholder settings for specific accounts on my friends list. For example:

apod - replace all images with a placeholder
cute_overload - don't replace images with a placeholder

I think that other users who use the image placeholder option (for whatever reason) would also find this useful. Someone may want to just hide images from that one non-worksafe comm, etc.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Less hassle
  • I would no longer be quite so irritated that no one ever specifies the height and width of their images

An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Additional options mean additional complication that could be confusing to users

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
  • A new page for image placeholder settings would definitely have to be created. I'm imagining a page that lists friends usernames, and then has a checkbox to enable image placeholders and drop-down menu for image placeholder options next to each one, but there are probably more user-friendly ways of doing this. (Definitely, it would be a good idea to create an easy way for people who want to apply the same settings to all of the accounts on their friends list to do so.)
