Subdomain + old URL redirection

Subdomain + old URL redirection

Short, concise description of the idea
Redirect to as if it were

Full description of the idea
Many people are used to moving from a direct view of user1's journal to user2's journal by directly editing the end of URL in the browser's address bar: jumping to a journal by stripping the end of a livejournal URL and adding users/user2 is still a reflex. It would be handy if this continued to work instead of generating a 404 Page Not Found when applied to a livejournal subdomain URL.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Keeps the same navigational habits functional for lazy people old-style livejournal users.

An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Discourages people from adapting to the new URLs -- after all, it's only a little more work to edit the beginning instead of the end of a URL.
  • Ideally, everything under should belong to user1's journal. Even though is currently meaningless, it could be a bad precedent.

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
  • Just another redirect.
