Short, concise description of the idea
Get rid of the "nudge" feature.
Full description of the idea
If someone who has me Friended can't bother to e-mail me directly to find out why I haven't updated, then that's their problem. I don't want people using the LiveJournal Team to, essentially, pass notes in History class: "Pssst! OtherUser thinks you haven't updated recently enough, so go update!"
The "nudge" feature implies that, as an LJ user, my posts are someone else's entertainment, and that other person is entitled to hector me for more entertainment when they feel it isn't being provided often enough. And, while my LJ might just be entertainment for someone, as I said above, if they can't e-mail me directly to let me know I'm not providing entertainment on *their* schedule, that's not my problem. How often I post is *my* decision.
But getting passive-aggressive messages from the LiveJournal Team, telling me that someone thinks I'm not posting enough? That *is* my problem. And it shouldn't be.
- LJ users won't get repeatedly annoyed by impersonal, passive-aggressive notices that someone else thinks they aren't posting enough.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
- I can't think of any.
An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
- I don't know what technical changes are required to get rid of the "nudge" feature.
