LJ should support relative URLs

LJ should support relative URLs

Short, concise description of the idea
When an image is included in an LJ post or comment, it should be possible to use a relative URL in the src field. i.e. <img src="//">

The Current behaviour is for lJ to prepend http:// to the front of the URL, which breaks at least some web-browsers (Opera and IE).

Full description of the idea
[see above]

An ordered list of benefits
  • Permits users to enter syntactically valid relative URLs
  • Avoids the current problem where a syntactically-valid <img> tag is adjusted by LJ to an invalid one that some web-browsers cannot use.

An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Users to incorrectly omit the protocol: section of their URLs might see confusing results?

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
  • If a URL is a syntactically valid relative URL, do not prepend http:// to it.
