LJ should support relative URLs
Short, concise description of the idea
When an image is included in an LJ post or comment, it should be possible to use a relative URL in the src field. i.e. <img src="//www.hostname.com/image1.jpg">
The Current behaviour is for lJ to prepend http:// to the front of the URL, which breaks at least some web-browsers (Opera and IE).
Full description of the idea
- Permits users to enter syntactically valid relative URLs
- Avoids the current problem where a syntactically-valid <img> tag is adjusted by LJ to an invalid one that some web-browsers cannot use.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
- Users to incorrectly omit the protocol: section of their URLs might see confusing results?
An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
- If a URL is a syntactically valid relative URL, do not prepend http:// to it.
