Paid LJ time going to fund phone cards for wounded troops at the Walter Reed Medical Center in DC.
Short, concise description of the idea
Instead of the $ for paid time going to LiveJournal, it would go to purchase phone cards for wounded soldiers at the Walter Reed Medical Center in DC, until 12/31/04.
Full description of the idea
I realize that this is not a customary suggestion, but funding has been cut for these soldiers and their #1 request has been phone cards, which the government has not been able to provide. I also know that LJ is not a charity, but generosity starts at the grass roots level and it would be a wonderful gesture. I can only get the word out to so many people, but with an entity such as LJ, so much more could be done.
- * Getting something a user likes (paid time, more icons) while doing something good for others at the same time.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
- * Many users may object to the Americentrism of this idea, but they always have the choice to opt out.
An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
- * An LJ announcement should be sufficient-- things like this can spread like wildfire and reach the furthest corners of LJ in a matter of days.
- Thank you for your consideration, no matter which way you choose.
