hide "Friends" list from non-friend users, or provide "block" list
Short, concise description of the idea
conceal "friends" list from other users
Full description of the idea
In much the same was as the "friend of" list is hidden from users not on said list, the "friends" list should also be possible to conceal. Basically, a user other than the journal owner should not be able to tell which other journals are on the friends list. Ideally, editing ones user info to "suppress/hide friends list" should also remove or suppress the link to the /friends page that currently appears on the journal if the current user is not a friend of the journal.
Barring this, the ability to prevent a user from reading the journal's friends page or even public entries on the journal, while still allowing the entries to be viewed by others would be useful.
- the ability to determine who can/should be able to see the list of friends you have added to your journal.
- the ability to make public posts or befriend another journal without exposing them to unwanted readers.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
- possible reduction in the "community" aspect of journals which enable the "suppress/hide friends list" option.
An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
- mirror the "hide friend-of list" option in the edit info page. Ideally this would then be checked when the journal or journal userinfo is viewed. If the current user is either not logged in, or not on the friends list, they should be unable to see the link to the /friends page, or view the list of friends associated with the journal.
