Determine the real size of images instead of using the Width/Height attribs in the tag

Title
Determine the real size of images instead of using the Width/Height attribs in the tag

Short, concise description of the idea
Determine the real size of images instead of using the Width/Height attributes in the tag in order the "Image Replacer" feature for the Friends page to work correctly.

Full description of the idea
Determine the real size of images instead of using the Width/Height attributes in the tag in order the "Image Replacer" feature for the Friends page to work correctly. Most authors post images without setting their size by the Width/Height attributes. Because of it the "Image Replacer" feature always consider the images to be more of the size specified. In other words, I get replacers for images that should not be replaced.

PS: Sorry if such a suggestions has ever been posted -- the list is quite long to entirely look it over. :)

An ordered list of benefits
  • The "Image Replacer" feature will be useful. Unfortunately, it's practically useless now.

An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Probably it's not an easy thing for the developers since they will have to learn LJ to open images in a range of formats such as JPG, GIF, PNG, etc.
  • Also, it may probably slow your servers.

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
  • As I said above, LJ will have to open different graphical formats to determine the size of the images instead of using the Width/Height attributes in the tag.
