XML feed suggestions...

Short, concise description of the idea
"link" location change based on use of domain aliasing

Full description of the idea
Right now, the XML feed for my LJ points people to livejournal.com/users/jackola/12345.html. However, I would like the links to appear as http://blog.jackola.net/12345.html.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Make the use of domain aliasing... more useful.

An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • none that I know of.

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
  • First of all, what I really want is for entries to /always/ use the domain alias address. However, i realize this isn't possible since the user could easily change their DNS zone to point the domain to another server, then accept the cookies from when people visited when it was on LJ. One way I thought to do this was to check if the entry was public or not. If it's public, then I send them to the domain alias address. Otherwise, send them to the regular LJ address.
In order to do this more successfully, I'd like to have the XML feed use the domain alias instead of the LJ address, since the point of having the domain alias is to appear on its own, seperate from LJ. This would be totally possible for public entries, with exception of when someone tries to comment, if the XML feed did this.
    Thank you.
