Short, concise description of the idea
random.bml shouldn't return deleted journals

Full description of the idea
In just the last half-hour, random.bml has returned three deleted journals. But is there really a point? Not to me, there isn't. Therefore, I recommend random search function not return deleted journals.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Deleted journals can't be read (by me, anyway), so not showing them takes less of my time.

An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • A bit more server load, of course, although one could argue the amount is negligible--depending on the method of implementation.

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
  • I'm not sure how the user is retrieved, nor am I in tune with LJ's "proper" style of coding and database querying, so here are a couple suggestions:
  • Adding AND (deleted = 0) (or whatever the column name is) to the SQL statement that retrieves the user
  • (Pseudocode)
       User = GetRandomUser()
    While User.Deleted = True
  • I'm sure you get the idea.
