Highlighting Outstanding Journals...

Highlighting Outstanding Journals...

Short, concise description of the idea
I'd like to suggest that the LJ administrators start highlighting a "Journal of the Day", spotlighting an author who continually updates their journal with entries which are intelligent, insightful or just plain interesting. I'd really like to expand my friends list to include more authors, but have a hard time landing on quality journals.

Full description of the idea
A link could be provided on the mainpage, making that person's journal easily accessible for a certain period of time, increasing their readers (maybe it would be best to ask for author permission first).

An ordered list of benefits
  • -encourages better writing within the LJ community
  • -helps LJ users get to know each other, who may not have visited each other's journals otherwise

An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • -authors may not be enthusiastic about being highlighted-- the admit would probably be safest contacting the author ahead of time to get permission

An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation
  • We would need administrators willing to go through people's journals to look for outstanding work, or a way for readers to submit a vote when they've found a journal that they think ought to be highlighted.
