Enable Ink support in LiveJournal.

Enable Ink support in LiveJournal.

Short, concise description of the idea
Allow support for Microsoft's Ink technology, allowing a LJ and Tablet PC user to post in his own handwriting.

Full description of the idea
Tablet PCs will eventually become commonplace. Many owners of tablet PCs will wish to have their Live journal in their own handwriting. This meta-suggestion is to begin the developer debate on if to support this feature and how.

An ordered list of benefits

  • There is nothing more personalized then your own handwriting.
  • Ease in input. Using the standard handwriting recognition and/or the Tablet PC Input Panel can be a major source of pain.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • This could take a great deal of storage space.
  • It will require hours and hours of code overhaul both client and server side.
  • May not be completely cross-platform compatible.
  • Communities may not want people posting in handwriting.
  • Other users may not want to see comments in handwriting.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • This is more a problem for the devs to deal with.
  • However, the feature Should definitely be user optional, allowing people to opt out of it probably as a default.
  • I'd like to point out that Ink can be converted into an mhtml file. This is pretty much the reason why I think this could be feasible.
