Search options on the main page return multiple values

Search options on the main page return multiple values

Short, concise description of the idea
The simple search options (e-mail, aim, etc.) bring you directly to a journals userinfo page. Instead, I suggest that the simple search bring you to journals userinfo page only if there is one value. Otherwise, it would return a list of the journals that matches your criteria.

Full description of the idea
The directory search and the simple search are awful to use. At the very least, the simple search should provide for multiple returns. The username function part of this is also discussed in this previous suggestion.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Users would be able to find what they were looking for

  • The search function would have some use
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Greater pull on the server
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • The ability to search for a string within a username would have to be programmed

  • LJ would then decide if this is too much of a pull or if multiple returns would only be allowed to paid users

  • LJ would also have to decide if these options should be added to the advanced search (which would be very helpful, as well as one way of making multiple returns paid only)
  • Tags: searches, ~ submitted - needs retagging
