Enlarge bio-entry text area on Edit Info page

Title
Enlarge bio-entry text area on Edit Info page

Short, concise description of the idea
Make the text area for entering your user bio larger to make it easier to enter text.

Full description of the idea
Currently, the Edit Personal Information page displays a box for editing your user bio that is 50 columns wide and 10 rows tall. However, editing anything long and complex in a box that size is quite annoying and a bit difficult, especially once scroll bars are present to eat up the box space. Since user bios can be up to 64K characters, the limited size of the text box seems inconsistent. I therefore suggest expanding the textarea to a reasonable size -- possibly 80 columns x 20 rows (slightly smaller than standard terminal size) or a certain percentage of the browser's width/height.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Makes it easier to edit complex user bios.
  • Reduces eyestrain.
  • Possibly reduces page loads because people will make fewer mistakes that they have to then correct.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • May require increasing the complexity of the form code to handle different cases for different browsers.
  • Requires someone to decide on an appropriate size and implementation.
  • Increases the size of the (already very long) Edit Info page.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • Change the column and row values in the Edit Info form to something larger.
  • Possibly add a new styling solution that gives it a percentage of the browser width.
  • Don't make it so large that it obscures the rest of the Edit Info page (no need for it to be as large as the Update Journal textarea).
