S2 style system to allow point sizes for fonts (rather than pixels)

Short, concise description of the idea
The S2 style system (or at least, the Component layout) specifies font sizes in pixels, which can make the Journal unreadable for high-resolution readers.

Full description of the idea
The fonts should be specified in point sizes, rather than pixels, or simply as relative font sizes.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Journal rendition will be (more) independant of the screen resolution used by the reader.
  • Journal readers will find that their choice of font size is not simply ignored. (try "View text size" in IE.)
  • Journal readers will not need to reconfigure their screen resolution.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Some work is required.
  • The seven standard CSS sizes may not be sufficient.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • If the appropriate font sizes can be decided upon, the stylesheet generator code will need some alteration. This ought to be fairly minor...
