Exporting All Entries in One Memory Category

Exporting All Entries in One Memory Category

Short, concise description of the idea
Users would be able to export all entries they put in a certain category in their Memories.

Full description of the idea
Currenly, we can only limit the export criteria by time. I thought it would be useful for users to be able to export a bunch of arbitrarily grouped entries, say by topic or a collection of entries that has some meaning to the user. Since the Memories Feature groups journal entries together already, it would make sense to extend LJ to be able to take one of those Memory Categories and use that as export criteria.

An ordered list of benefits

  • users have the choice of archiving entries by arbitrary groupings
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • not entirely sure...
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • go through the table where the Memory categories are kept (like what memories.bml?user=... does)
  • grab all the Category names
  • stick them in another pull-down list in export.bml underneath "Export What:" ... or they could even be put right in the "Export What:" pull-down list
  • when the user hits "Proceed...", go through the collection of entry ids that belong to that Category for that user, optionally using the date criteria constraint
  • spit out the journal entry data as XML, CSV, HTML or whatever
