Non-Collapsed View of Posts With 50+ Comments Option

Title
Non-Collapsed View of Posts With 50+ Comments Option

Short, concise description of the idea
Along with the collapsed view that automatically happens when a journal entry has 50+ comments, there could be an option to turn thread collapsing, on or off with a little drop down box. I find when the comments get collapsed with just usernames and subject titles, it's hard to determine what anybody was even talking about, especially because people cannot anticipate that things will get all collapsy until it's too late.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Battles reply apathy
  • Makes it easier for users to skim comments and not wait for server response when clicking to view the individual thread segments.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Increased bandwidth consumption for posts with huge amounts of comments and various users with icons replying.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • The current settings would remain as they are, but the users themselves would be able to determine the way in which comments are viewed via a drop-down box that appears along with the thread-collapsing that happens at the 50+ comment threshold.
  • Chopping up the comments into multiple "pages" could still remain intact to fight excessive icon-showing bandwidth evil.
  • Tags: comment viewing, comments, § implemented differently
