RSS Feeds Comment-free

RSS Feeds Comment-free

Short, concise description of the idea
The RSS syndication feeds have comment buttons. This makes very little sense, as the owner of the feed will never get notifications of the comments (since the owner of the RSS feed is not the owner of the LJ syndication account.).

Full description of the idea
When a syndication feed is created, it should be set to a no-comment mode. If the readers wish to follow the feed to its source, the owner of the feed gets the comments in their normal manner, if any.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Less traffic on LJ, as nobody will post comments to things which nobody will read.
  • More traffic driven to the syndicated sites, raising awareness of LJ as a method to drive eyeballs in their direction.
  • World peace.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • More complexity in the syndication generation code, since no-comments is not the default mode for any normal account.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • I think it's so clear that no more detail is needed.
