New title on talkread.bml

New title on talkread.bml

Short, concise description of the idea
In the title and header of the talkread.bml files, it now displays the first few words of the entry. This should be customizable.

Full description of the idea
In the title and header of the talkread.bml files, it now displays the first few words of the entry. This is new as of today (or yesterday). My problems with this are best illustrated in this post: http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=cria_cow&itemid=176458 It cuts off the selected text *in the middle of a word*, and the HTML for the lj-cut tag I used shows up in the title bar. The subject text is also enormously large in comparison to the rest of it, while serving absolutely no purpose. This causes the entire thing to look amateur and ridiculous, as the title bar/header is the first thing people see (especially with that font size and color; it draws the eyes right to it). Also, if you do use a subject for the post, it appears three times all in a rather small space (title, above the userpic, and below the userpic). My suggestion? Make the new "feature" toggleable, so we can turn it off for our own journals (i.e. if I turn it off, everyone who goes to one of my posts no longer sees it).

An ordered list of benefits

  • The talkread.bml page would not look, as I said, amateur and ridiculous.
  • It would also be far less repetitive for posts in which subjects are used.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • None, that I can see -- since it would be toggleable, those that like the new system could keep it.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • Add an on/off toggle to Modify Journal.
  • Check said on/off toggle when displaying the talkread.bml file.
