Acknowledgements/Dedications page

Acknowledgements/Dedications page

Short, concise description of the idea
A new account function. A page where users can post permanent acknowledgements, thanks, dedications or memorials, similar to the "acknowledgements" page of a book or CD liner notes.

Full description of the idea
Everyone has people that they owe a great deal to, or would like to thank for something important. Everyone feels the need occasionally to make a public declaration of love, friendship, or other sentiment. Authors and musicians get to do it in their dedications and liner notes; it would be great if the rest of us could post them on Livejournal. The reason I think it needs a new page is so that such messages can be made permanent, instead of becoming lost behind more recent edits as they do if simply posted in a journal.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Allows users to put important messages and statements on public, permanent display.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Potential for dedication pages to become too long and load the server excessively - possibly there should be a limited number of entry slots, like the limitation on generating LJ codes?
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • I picture this option as being accessible from a link similar to the ones that access "userinfo" "calendar" and "friends" links - possibly titled "dedications" or something similar.
  • The page format would be a simple list to which one-line entries could be added by the user via an editing form. All entries would be visible on the same page.
