Easier handling of friends groups

Easier handling of friends groups

Short, concise description of the idea
Allow the selection of multiple groups on editgroups.bml

Full description of the idea
This was inspired by wanting to know if I have 'friends' (including watched communities, rss feeds, etc) that are not listed in any groups, without doing it by hand. My idea is to allow the listbox on editgroups.bml to have multiple groups selected, and change "not in group" to mean "not in any of the selected groups" and "in group" to mean "in any of the selected groups" then have the "<<" and ">>" buttons remove selected friends from all selected groups and add selected friends to all selected groups. the rename group button could either only work when there is just one group selected or it could always work on the group with the marquee rectangle around it. (I don't know if javascript can tell where that is)

An ordered list of benefits

  • Easier to tell if a friend is in a particular set of groups (such as any of them)
  • easy way to remove a friend from all groups, or add to more then one group.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Somewhat more complicated javascript. (However, javascript is already required on that page, so it's not a new browser requirement)
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • Make the groups listbox accept multiple selections (like the not in group/in group listboxes do currently)
  • Change the code that happens when groups are selected to include any friends that are in any of the selected groups in the "In Group(s)" list. (and not in the "Not in Group(s)" list
  • change the "<<" and ">>" buttons to work with all selected groups
  • change the group manipulation buttons other then "Rename" (and "New") to work with all selected groups.
