[lj user="%n"] tag similar to AIM's %n feature.

Short, concise description of the idea
A tag that displays the LiveJournal name of whoever's logged in.

Full description of the idea
As I'm sure most of you know, AIM has this nifty little feature of displaying a user's own screen name when they view the term "%n" written in other people’s profiles and away messages. Similarly, %t and %d translate to the current time and date, respectively. I propose a new set of LJ tags, [lj user="%n"] [lj user="%t"] [lj user="%d"] (or whatever’s easy) that will appear in an entry as the logged-on user’s name, the current time, and current date. of course I mean "<" instead of "[", and the reverse.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Nifty.
  • Nifty.
  • More interactive-seeming entries.
  • Really nifty.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Some people might find it really annoying.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • I can't imagine this requiring too much code to implement.
  • Maybe do something to differentiate an actual user tag from the "phoney" kind.
  • Tags: lj-specific markup, § historical
