See Friends' custom Comments Links in Friends Page

See Friends' custom Comments Links in Friends Page

Short, concise description of the idea
Add an option that enables you to see what kinds of comments links your friends use while reading their entries in your Friends page, similar to being able to see their various mood icons. Should also be able to keep option to override your friends' comments links with your own, just like with the mood icons.

Full description of the idea
There are pages in the FAQ that explain how to customize and personalize your LiveJournal's comments links, but nobody but you will ever see them unless they read your page directly! I know that some of my friends have replaced their comments links with humorous things or things which have personal meaning to them, but when I see their entries in my Friends page, I don't get to see them and I feel like I'm missing out a little.

An ordered list of benefits

  • more fun to see what comments links your friends choose
  • individualized comments links are representative of people's personalities
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • since comments links are specified differently depending on journal style, may be difficult to parse them all out in such a way as to conform to one page's style?
  • some people might find other people's comments links annoying, but this should be solved by the fact that you should be able to override other people's links with your own (as with mood icons)
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • as mentioned before, will need to find some way to extract the comments links text from all the different kinds of journal styles and pop them into one Friends page of one particular style
  • will need to add an option in "Modify Journal" page where you can select whether or not you want to force your comments links on Friends page, or whether you want to let your friends' personalized comments links be seen
