Keeping users from seeing protected posts in Memories

Keeping users from seeing protected posts in Memories

Short, concise description of the idea
I suggest the code be tweaked so that when a Memories entry is protected to a friends group, those not in the friends group not see it in the 'memories' listing.

Full description of the idea
Right now, what happens is that all memories are seeable by everyone. If you click on one you're not permed for, you get a message saying so. This must be incredibly frustrating. Why let people who aren't permed for them see them at all? It's probably trivial to check the security flag when someone clicks on the memory topic, and only show a winnowed 'visible to this user' list, instead of all of them.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Less frustration for users who don't know before clicking a link that it's going to deadend them in an error message.
  • A more intuitive interface.
  • Less back-button hitting necessary. :->
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Have to recode the memory lister.
  • Might cause some kind of mystical DB hit to check the security status of the posts against the viewer.
  • Requires coding time.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • Unfortunately, I don't program, so I've no real idea where to start.
