Entry-specific options

Entry-specific options

Short, concise description of the idea
Make it so more of the global posting options (comment screening, comment emails, IP logging) can be set for a single entry.

Full description of the idea
There are quite a few options you can set for your entire journal through editing your personal information: who can comment on your entries (if anyone), when you want to log IPs, which comments you want screened by default, whether you want to receive email when a comment is left. Two of these can be changed for a single entry (disallow comments completely, don't email comments). I'm suggesting adding more options on how you'd like a single entry to behave apart from your entire journal.

An ordered list of benefits

  • More flexibility in making "special" entries. ("confessions", announcements you don't want anonymous or non-friend comments on, entries open to all in a normally friends-only system)
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Would be confusing to some users
  • Would add more clutter to the full update screen
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • Assuming these are stored in the database as global options rather than entry-specific ones, it would need to be changed to store this information along with an entry
  • The update screen and various clients would need to accomodate the added functionality
