Paid Accounts: Sponsoring an RSS Feed

Short, concise description of the idea
If an RSS feed is paid as an account, it should have a zero cost.

Full description of the idea
Limited syndication points make people pick and choose their feeds carefully. It would be nice to have some feeds which people don't worry about, as they are "free" for the readers. I'd like to be able to pay an RSS feed's account and have it drop down to zero cost so free users and users who already have five points' worth of feed can still friendlist the account.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Users can put their own sites' content on LJ and encourage people to join LJ to receive updates regularly. This promotes LiveJournal in a meaningful way.
  • People who want more feeds can contribute to LJ financially and let everyone benefit as a result.
  • Syndication use can grow while having a positive financial impact.
  • No more whining about limited syndication points. :)
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Need a way to resolve a paid syndication running out and leaving multiple people over points?
  • Will any site authors resent people paying to up the accessibility of their data?
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • Implementation should be fairly straightforward. All that's needed is a check on whether the account is paid when calculating its cost.
