Reference page for AIM/ICQ of friends

Reference page for AIM/ICQ of friends

Short, concise description of the idea
Make a page that, when accessed by a logged-in user, will display the AIM screen names or ICQ addresses for all the user's friends who have that defined.

Full description of the idea
This would work something like birthdays.bml. It would list all your friends who have a screen name in one place. This could be one page for all the messenger services, or a separate page for each one (which would probably be easier to lay out.) Only you would have access to your list.

An ordered list of benefits

  • It would allow more people to communicate offsite.
  • It would save time--you wouldn't have to check every person's userinfo to see if they have an AIM/ICQ defined.
  • It would help for people who use multiple computers or switch computers, so they could rebuild their Buddy List without too much searching.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • It might weigh down the server--though not much more than birthdays.bml does.
  • People might overuse instant messages or use them to harrass other users. Not likely, but possible.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • I can't program, so someone would have to set it up. But I would definitely use it.
