New monthview

New monthview

Short, concise description of the idea
Month view of my friends posts during that month, similar to what is available for communities.

Full description of the idea
I've been longing for a view similar to the month-view for communities for my friends entries during that selected month. Something like this view is what I mean : If you look at this month-view you'll see entries from many different users. This got me thinking it shouldn't be that hard to transform that code to show a monthview of someone's friendslist in this way.

An ordered list of benefits

  • I would be pleased if this was made.
  • Since S2 will allow for customisation of the standard LJ-pages (like the monthview, I hope), this would probably become a very nice additional functionality.
  • I think it would mean less strain on the DB-servers, because I think it would be used more than the friends-view is right now. This view only shows the subjects remember + number of comments.
  • It's not meant to replace the friendsview, but I would use it instead of my friendsview.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Problem with this is that many people DO NOT USE SUBJECTS when posting.
  • If people have a huge friendslist this could create enormous pages, so I would suggest to limit the number of posts to a maximum number that keeps it workable.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • I think the available code is useable (because of what exists for the communities monthview) and it wouldn't take that much to create this. I'm not able to do it, but if I was I'd make it happen myself.
  • If need be to reduce DB-load issues I'd even say yes to reducing this to a week-view instead of a monthview.
  • That's all basically.
