Condorcet and STV in polls

Title
Condorcet and STV in polls

Short, concise description of the idea
Allow users to create polls with a number of options, which would then be ranked by everyone filling in the poll, and then evaluated using either condorcet or single transferable vote.

Full description of the idea
Frequently I will use polls to try to ascertain a general consensus amongst those reading my journal, but when there are a lot of options a simple "which of these options do you like best" is unreliable. It would be nice if users could rank all the options in order of preference and then have lj determine the most popular overall based on either condorcet or single transferable vote (ideally a choice of either).

An ordered list of benefits

  • Makes polls more useful
  • Gives the user more control over their journal.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Potentially confusing for those who don't know of condorcet or STV.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • Possibly adopt other GNU condorcet programs to be used within the framework of livejournal polls.
  • Have a grid of radio buttons such that each option may be given one ranking from 1 to n where n is the number of options.
