Security levels of e-mail addresses

Security levels of e-mail addresses

Short, concise description of the idea
Allow the security levels for displayed e-mail addresses to be set separately.

Full description of the idea
Note: This option that I'm suggesting really only applies to users with paid accounts. Right now, when you edit your user info, you can choose to display either one e-mail address, both, or none. And you can choose either choose to make your address(es) public or friends-only. However, I (and probably others) would like to be able to make my livejournal.com e-mail address public and my regular e-mail address friends-only. Currently, this isn't possible; I have to either make them both public or both friends-only.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Allows users to show everyone their livejournal.com e-mail address while still keeping their regular e-mail address away from users that they don't know.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • None. It offers more options, which is a good thing.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • I was thinking something like this: Make check boxes, one with the livejournal.com address and the other with the regular one. Make some kind of heading that says that you should check which ones you want to display. Then have the "Security" drop down box under each of them, and the user can then choose the security for each one. This is a rough idea, and is open to improvement. :)
