Title
Checking Adult Content flagging

Short, concise description of the idea
Moderaters of communities need some way to be able to tell if a post in their community has been appropriately flagged for adult content.

Full description of the idea
I would like to see some sort of icon or note that somehow indicates that a post in a community has been flagged with one of the adult content filters. Currently, moderators in communities have no way of knowing if a post has been appropriately flagged unless they constantly change the settings in their own journal to filter, and then unfilter adult content. This is time consuming and frustrating for mods of busy coms.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Community moderators would be able to tell at a glance if a post has been appropriately filtered, and would be able to take action quickly if necessary.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • I honestly can't see any other than the time necessary to code this into the site.

Title
New Virtual Gift: Olive Branch

Short, concise description of the idea
It would be nice to apologize to someone with an "olive branch" virtual gift.

Full description of the idea
It is easy to cause hurt feelings in the course of writing on LJ. It would be nice if there were ways to apologize, to send peace offerings such as "olive branches" and the like.

That is pretty much it.

A friend suggested that I offer the idea to you, since I couldn't find a virtual gift today that really met my needs.

An ordered list of benefits
  • Benefits:
  • I would use it. I would probably have to use it a lot. You might make it a $1.99 one...
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Problems:
  • I can't think of any.

Title
Use Name from profile as display name on LJ Talk

Short, concise description of the idea
Instead of displaying one's user name, use whatever the user enters as the Name on their profile page.

Full description of the idea
Right now, in LJ Talk, one's nickname shows up as their account user name (in my case, diziara). Why aren't we using the name listed in one's profile? (in my case, Just an Object) It seems more intuitive that way, and more in line with the Jabber protocol norm to do it that way, as one's user name is in their login for the protocol (username@livejournal.com) and all the good clients make this information just as visible as the nickname.

An ordered list of benefits
  • LJ Talk will behave more like other Jabber based communication.
  • It will allow users to adjust their name based upon their mood and their current interests.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Will require recoding whatever currently translates profile information over to the Jabber server.
  • May confuse people who aren't used to chat protocols that will allow users to change their display name (but this shouldn't be a big problem, as even the "big names" in chat protocols, like ICQ and MSN have been doing this for years.
