Title
Daily summary e-mails

Short, concise description of the idea
Need ability to subscribe to a single e-mail summary of a user's LJ posts.

Full description of the idea
LJ already has the ability to notify you of a person's post once they enter it, but I think it might be useful to also offer a subscription that's a daily summary e-mail of a person's posts. Include links to the various posts they made that day, along with a notation of the number of comments (so you can tell what topics were the most talked about).

An ordered list of benefits
  • This is useful for those users whose posts you don't want to miss, but that you may not want to be updated on with each post. It's a less spammy method (in terms of e-mails received by the subscriber) of watching someone who posts a lot.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • Will probably need to happen in bulk at a certain time of day, which may bog down your system (workaround is to ask the user what time they want the e-mail delivered).
  • Shouldn't be too much of a problem, but you will need to programmatically decide which links get shown to the subscriber based on the post's security level. Only those the user has access to should be linked in the daily e-mail.

Email blogging

Short, concise description of the idea
The idea stems from some of us who can't directly access LJ during work hours due to internet usage policies at may work places and thus LJ and most other blogs are blocked. To be able to not only email journal entriess, which one can do now but to be able to comment back from comments left via email too.

Full description of the idea
In this case, at work when I get a comment to a journal entry or a comment I've left earlier, I can reply back using the dialogue reply box at the bottom of the email and when I click on the send button, it then sends me to the journal entry in question and thus the posted reply, but when at work, I can't assess the site at all and thus the comments I try to reply to don't post so an alternative needs to be available for such situations.

Thanks.

An ordered list of benefits
  • It'll make the poster or commenter a better contributor to the community whenever he/she can even if by email if nothing else.
An ordered list of problems/issues involved
  • The only problem is not seeing if the comment/reply posted but that's OK since we don't always know if our initial post, posted via email anyway.
