Short, concise description of the idea
Make syn_quest an official LiveJournal community!

Full description of the idea
syn_quest is to syn_promo as community_quest is to community_promo, both of which are already official communities. Making syn_quest official means those lovely FAQ editors of lj_userdoc can add it to the FAQs. Adding it to the FAQs mean more people will get to know of its existence. If more people know of its existence, more users will use it. If more people use it, there will be less off-topic posts to syn_promo.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Official communities can be added to the relevant FAQs.
  • Better awareness of the community.
  • Less off-topic posts to the syn_promo community.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Will add yet another journal to the millions of already official communities.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • Someone has to click something to make if official. It then gets added to the FAQs.
  • Community Moderation

Since community moderation has gone live on the site for testing, suggestions has been changed so posts are now moderated. All posts will still need to come from the form, but they'll now also need to be approved. If a suggestion is rejected for whatever reason, you will receive an email with the reason for rejection and the full text of your suggestion.

At this time, erin and I only plan to reject suggestions that are incomplete/nonsense or duplicate suggestions. If your suggestion is a duplicate, the rejection note will contain a link to the previously posted version so you may view it if you so desire. If you are suggesting a better implementation or version of a particular feature, Erin and I will consider approving yours and removing the old version.

Because the moderation code is still being tested, and we are unsure of how it will interact with the form, you may encounter problems. If you do, please inform us so that we may report bugs. If it turns out to be a problem, we will revert to a non-moderated community until the situation has been resolved.

If you have any questions, please feel free to let us know!

On a side note, a poll will be coming soon. We've been going through old memories for more polling content.

EDIT: A bug has been found that prevents this from working correctly. Rather than potentially losing moderated submissions, we are holding off approval until the bug has been fixed. We apologise for the inconvenience.
