Ping Weblogs.com after posting

Ping Weblogs.com after posting

Short, concise description of the idea
Weblogs.com gives an overview of weblogs that have recently been posted to. To be listed, weblogs.com needs to be 'pinged'. This can be automated by weblog software such as livejournal.

Full description of the idea
Of course, it is possible to manually ping weblogs.com by submitting the Ping form on weblogs.com, but it is possible to have it done automatically by the weblog software. I think it'd be a good addition to at least offer the option of pinging weblogs.com to the users of livejournal.

An ordered list of benefits

  • - a more complete weblog list on weblogs.com
  • - more visitors for livejournal and it's users
  • - no more manual pinging for livejournal users that wants their weblog in the weblogs.com list
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • - more bandwidth is used because weblogs.com is being pinged after each post
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • while researching weblogs.com pinging I stumbled by some php scripts that can ping weblogs.com... I suspect other programming languages might also have these scripts available already, in which case it's just a matter of implementing it into the code. It would be good to give the user the choice of his/her weblog pinging weblogs.com ... some might not want this.
