Title
Users should be allowed to choose which userpics are inactivated

Short, concise description of the idea
A recently implemented feature allows LiveJournal to mark some user pictures inactive when a user's paid account expires. Which pictures are marked inactive should be a choice of the user rather than a statistic determined by the system.

Full description of the idea
At present, which user pictures are marked inactive is determined by which have been most frequently used in the user's own journal in the past six months. Instead of this occurring automatically, and the user having to delete pictures if ones that they don't favor are selected, the user should be presented with a form after their account status changes and allowed to choose which pictures they would like to have remain active.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Users are not upset when pictures that they don't like are automatically selected to remain active.
  • Users do not have to delete pictures that they would rather not delete in order to get active pictures that they like.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • An interface has to be created; more work for the devs.
  • Have to check more times to see if the selection has been made than if it were just made automatically?
  • The system currently used has to be adapted to allow user-choice selections.
  • May not encourage users to renew their accounts as quickly. (But will still encourage it more than letting them use all of them.)
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • Possibly a form that shows userpics with a little checkbox next to each showing "Active?"
  • Some kind of routine to make sure that the correct number of pictures is selected.
