Comment deletion in communities.

Comment deletion in communities.

Short, concise description of the idea
Comment deletion limited to maintainer(s).

Full description of the idea
There's not much else to explain. In some cases, such as helpscreening, howto, and other various LiveJournal supported communities, I think it might be a good idea for only maintainers to be allowed to delete comments made by posters. Apologies if this has ever been suggested before, I didn't notice it in memories. :)

An ordered list of benefits

  • Sometimes a comment is posted in either of the aforementioned journals, and then deleted, and then the same comment posted again by someone else. If the maintainers were the only ones capable of deleting comments, this would not be likely to happen.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Some maintainers may abuse such power.
  • Users of the community may not like losing the ability to delete their own posts.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • Perhaps this could be inclusive of only LiveJournal supported communities, or paid community accounts.
  • Probably there's a lot that would have to be done, but maybe not. Anyway, I wanted to get all that out before I forgot and went to sleep.
