Do not send plain text attachments

Do not send plain text attachments

Short, concise description of the idea
Send the comment notification mails as plain text mails with a mail body, not an empty mail with a plain text attachment

Full description of the idea
Every time I receive a comment notification mail (which I have opted to receive as plain text), I have to make an extra click to open the attachment. It would be a lot handier if the text was in the mail body.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Less clicks necessary to reach the information contained in the mail.
  • Saved bandwidth for both the server and the users.
  • Would also convince my mailer (Opera Mail) to make the links clickable. It doesn't do that with attachments because they're separate files. Would hence save a lot of work since currently I have to manually copy & paste the links.
  • Would probably make things work easier with other mailers too, esp. very old ones that don't even support multipart mails (attachments).
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Honestly can't think of any.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • All that would be required is a slight change to the routine that assembles the e-mail.
