Communities and Invite Codes
Short, concise description of the idea
Give Communities more leeway and the potential to work with all users, even users outside Live Journal.
Full description of the idea
In general, Invite Codes are a pain. Nobody knows what to do with them, however. This suggestion does not try and solve that problem, but mearly take some of the sting out of Invite Codes. In this system, no Community needs an Inivite code to be created. A Live Journal member wants to create a community, and a community is made. The community is never a normal user and can never be a normal user and also the community never needs an invite code. After that, the community can be set up to store usernames and passwords in a seperate database. Thus, the community creator can send out special "Community Invite Codes" and sign up people so that they can post messages In That Community Only. They cannot post comments anywhere else, nor create journal entries anywhere else. In essence, the Communities at Live Journal would be given a lot more freedom and they would not suffer from the pains of Invite Codes.
