"More options" automation for Update Journal page

Title
"More options" automation for Update Journal page

Short, concise description of the idea
Much like the custom friends group popdown, automate the apperance of extra options on the Update Journal page.

Full description of the idea
Currently, if you're on the simple Update Journal page, enter your text, decide you want more options, and click the "more options" link, you lose the text of the entry unless you were clever enough to copy it, because it's loading a new, blank page with more options. In contrast, on the Full mode of the UJ page, if you set the security level to "Custom", it immediately presents you a list of your friends groups, without reloading anything. Since the only other option to carry the post information to the Full update page is to submit it and redisplay it in a new page, I propose a modification to the code so that when a user clicks the "more options" link (or a new button/checkbox), the other options are immediately displayed on that page without reloading anything or risking loss of entry text.

An ordered list of benefits

  • Streamlines use of Web client for updates, especially for users who start with the simple mode and later decide they want the full mode.
  • Less risk of lost entry text for the same users.
  • An ordered list of problems/issues involved

  • Would require recoding part of the simple update page to allow for the optional quick display of full options.
  • An organized list, or a few short paragraphs detailing suggestions for implementation

  • Use a coding routine similar to that used to instantly display existing friends groups when setting a web post security level to Custom, to instantly display the full options on the simple update page.
